Calling all chapter leaders!

RMD Virtual Leadership Academy 2021 is right around the corner.

Whether you are an experienced chapter leader, you’ve just been elected to begin serving, or you’d just like to learn, please join us on Saturday morning, November 20th. This year’s leadership academy will have three components:

  1. Online, self-paced, job-specific training videos you can study on your own before 11/20, even if you can’t attend on 11/20
  2. Live facilitated leadership training from the BHS Leadership Operations Team
  3. A Live Zoom general session with presentations by members of the district about things that have worked well, as well as a roundtable discussion about the courses and about leadership issues.

Please come share in an exchange of ideas with leaders from other organizations. Hear from experienced instructors. Establish new connections that can help you and your chorus. Come get energized as we head into a new year of singing.

Live Leadership Training 11/20

Three sessions of live leadership training facilitated by Ric Keaster from the Barbershop Harmony Society Leadershop Operations Team. Tune in for any or all.

8:00 AM – Leading an Effective Team: Every team is different. In this course, learn how to apply leaderships kills more effectively across team experiences. Understand the difference between traditional vs. high-performance teams, and plan how your team can become the latter. Understand the coordination and specialization of team types, the stages of team growth, and what makes for the best (and worst) team experiences.

9:00 AM – Effective Meetings: Are you meetings effective and efficient? Analyze your meeting process, the learn and practice the seven characteristics of effective meetings, including establishing meeting norms, working from an agenda, designating roles, using discussion skills, and more. Practice and plan your next meeting.

10:00 AM – Team Decision-Making: Volunteer groups need to make decisions to move forward. Learn the barriers to group decision-making and five ways groups typically make decisions. Live General Session 11/20 at 11:00 AM

A live general session, including presentations by members of our district about things that have worked for them, as well as a roundtable discussion of leadership issues and courses. Come share in an exchange of ideas with leaders from other organizations.  Hear from experienced instructors.  Establish new connections that can help you and your chorus.

Presentations will include:

  • Getting Gigs – Stephen Smith of the Salt Lake City chapter
  • A Data-Driven Approach to Musical Planning – Scott Anderson of the Golden Spike chapter

Logistics

Upon completing registration you’ll receive links to all of the online training courses. Please review them on your own before November 20th to be ready for discussion in the general session.

Each registered attendee will receive reminder emails from Eventbrite along with the Zoom meeting details.

We’ll have ten minute breaks between each session on 11/20. Please feel free to bring whatever breakfast, lunch, snacks, or drinks you need.

Singing organizations everywhere have had enough struggles this year, so we’re offering registration for free for this year only. If you enroll multiple people, please include their individual email addresses so that they can each receive the links to courses and meetings.
