RMD Spring Convention Details!
April 21-23, 2023, in Cheyenne, WY
We are looking forward to what will be a fantastic convention in Cheyenne, Wyoming the weekend of April 21-23, 2023. We are planning an action-packed weekend of fun, fellowship, education, and a quartet contest!
This email provides an overview of the weekend’s activities. More information will follow over the next couple of months, including a registration opening date, lodging information, and much more. Stay tuned!
Preliminary Contest
As in 2022, we will be holding an International Quartet Preliminary contest to run in conjunction with Rocky Mountain Harmony College (RMHC). Friday will again feature two rounds of quartet prelims contest beginning at 4pm. A dinner break will occur between rounds. All evals will occur on Saturday during planned quartet coaching sessions. A reminder that our quartet prelims are by invite only to RMD quartets based on scores from this fall. If you are a new quartet or did not score above a 70.0% but are improved, please feel free to submit a 2 song video for an invite consideration. It will be scored by certified judges in the RMD. Deadline for video submissions is January 31, 2023. If you plan to submit a video, please contact Bob Lawson (azmisman+barbershop@gmail.com) for further details. All RMHC attendees are allowed to attend these competition sessions to cheer on all of the quartets!
Rocky Mountain Harmony College
RMHC coaching and classes will occur on Saturday. We are also working to add some classes to Friday afternoon based on faculty availability. A FANTASTIC MEDALIST QUARTET is currently being solidified for the weekend and will be announced soon!!! New and exciting class topics will be offered along with the normal basics of singing and performing along with management and organization topics.
RMHC will also offer chorus and quartet coaching in a Top Gun style format, meaning we will bring you the best coaches we have to offer if you bring your energy and willingness to improve! We have been fortunate to have several district choruses with us the last several years and look forward to several more joining us this year. We will have room for at least 4 choruses and 8-10 quartets (in addition to our competitors). Quartets and Choruses will be able to have at least 3 coaching sessions with a variety of faculty. Members of groups present for coaching will be able to attend classes in the blocks that they are not being coached. There will be a lot more info forthcoming soon. Saturday night will feature a fun, informal show featuring quartets and choruses that join us for the weekend along with our featured quartet. Overall, it will be a fantastic weekend that you won’t want to miss!! More details and announcements to come soon, including registration opening date!
