President, Rocky Mountain District
Barbershop Harmony Society
Hello barbershop friends. As you know, the Society has mandated that all spring events in the Society (to include districts) should be cancelled as a result of the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak around the country. The RMD Board and Operations team met tonight to enact this cancellation, and to decide how to handle those of you who have already paid for Rocky Mountain Harmony College (RMHC).
Our District is different from most others in the Society in that we do not have a spring contest or preliminaries. We only have the school. Typically, our attendance is relatively small, and in spite of the hype, and unlike places on both coasts, there are very few cases of coronavirus in Northern Colorado. It is impossible to know how circumstances might change by late April. Inasmuch, your safety and health are our top priority. We want to error on the side of prudence.
For those of you who already registered for RMHC, we are giving you two options: 1.) you may contact us for a refund, which will be handled as a reversal on your credit card through Eventbrite; 2.) you may apply the amount you paid for RMHC tuition toward your registration fee for the fall contest at the Denver Tech Center this September. Scott Anderson, our Vice President of Chapter Support and Leadership Training is handling these matters. Unless you notify Scott Anderson before April 15, 2020, he will automatically apply your RMHC tuition toward your fall convention registration. If you would like a refund via Eventbrite, please get in touch with him before April 15th. You may reach him at email@example.com.
At this time, we are uncertain of what the financial repercussions might be for the District, however, our goal is to make everyone financially “whole” from this unfortunate occurrence.
For those of you who participate in the House of Delegates on behalf of your chapter, it is also cancelled until the Fall Convention.
Our fall convention is September 24-26, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center. We look forward to seeing you there!
Pasco W. Scarpella, President
